Howard County Police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle collision that occurred atapproximately 1:40 p.m. in Annapolis Junction.

A white Toyota was traveling on the entrance road to Route 32 westbound from Route 1 when it left the roadway and struck a tree.

The 42-year-old male driver and sole-occupant has been pronounced dead at HowardCounty General Hospital.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that speed was the primary factor in the collision. No other vehicles were involved.

Routes 32 and 1 are open, however the entrance/exit ramps are currently closed while HCPD’s Traffic Enforcement Section continues the ongoing investigation.

Howard County police are continuing to investigate a fatal single-vehicle collision thatoccurred at approximately 1:40 p.m. in Annapolis Junction.

A white Toyota was traveling on the entrance road to Route 32 westbound from Route 1 when it left the roadway and struck a tree.

The driver and sole-occupant, Ronald Lavalle Lucas, Jr., 42, of Parkville, was
pronounced dead at Howard County General Hospital.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that speed was the primary factor in the collision. No other vehicles were involved.

Entrance/exit ramps for Route 32 at Route 1 were closed for approximately two and a half hours as HCPD’s Traffic Enforcement Section investigated.
