State Attorney General Sues Another Payday Lender

In Charleston, local news sources have reported that State Attorney General Darrell McGraw has filed another lawsuit against a local payday loan lender.

At this time, McGraw's office is looking to obtain $3.9 million in penalties from Government Employees Credit Center Inc. and the Dollar Financial Group.  The Office alleges that both organizations are guilty of collecting on illegal payday loans in contempt of a court order.

Recently, McGraw's Office had sued GECC in Delaware after the company was issued a federal court order to stop collecting on loans.  Despite the court order, it is said that the company continued to make collections and violated the court's wishes.

Furthermore, in his lawsuits, McGraw says that the companies do not have licenses to conduct business in West Virginia.  Today, McGraw's Office has sued 14 internet payday lenders.
