Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett and County Councilmember Phil Andrews today announced that more than $1 million would be dispersed to consumers as the result of a lawsuit against Warner Plumbing and related companies. More than 10,000 consumers were notified that they were eligible to receive a refund. “It’s always a good day when you are able to recover money for innocent consumers who were victims of unscrupulous business practices,” said Leggett. “This is another example of the good service provided by our Office of Consumer Protection. I’m proud of the work they do every day to protect the residents of Montgomery County.” The lawsuit, filed in 1996, alleges that Thomas Warner, the Warner Companies and some top-level managers and employees had engaged in deceptive and unfair trade practices in violation of the Montgomery County Consumer Protection Act.
