Fatal Collision in Rockville

The Montgomery County Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision that occurred in Rockville.

Yesterday at approximately 4:38 a.m., 1st District officer and Fire Rescue personnel responded to the intersection of Veirs Mill Road and Sampson Road for the report of a serious personnel injury collision.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Daniel Prieto 25, of the 12300 block of Atherton Drive in Silver Spring was northbound on Sampson Road and attempted to make a right turn onto eastbound Veirs Mill Road and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle struck the media strip and overturned before coming to rest. The driver was transported to Suburban Hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.
