The charts in this summary are based on calls for service and may not be indicated via the incidents detailed in this report. Some of the reports may not have been available, or the victim and suspect were known to each other; therefore the case closed. Notable arrests for crime trends are provided via press releases.

D1 Beat:

• Multiple thefts from vehicles occurred overnight from Saturday, 6/9 to Sunday, 6/10 in the Chevy Chase/Rollingswood neighborhoods. Eight unlocked vehicles were entered; cash was taken.


D2 Beat:

• Two thefts from vehicles occurred in the garage at 4935 St. Elmo Avenue, Bethesda on Friday, 6/8 between 6:10 p.m. and 8:10 p.m. No signs of forced entry were noted on either vehicle. A laptop was removed from one vehicle and a GPS unit was taken from the other.


D3 Beat:

• Two thefts from vehicles occurred in Kensington with no sign of forced entry in either event. In one event, overnight from Friday, 6/8 to Saturday, 6/9, a vehicle in the 3100 block of Plyers Mill Road was entered and searched. The front bumper was ripped off, however nothing was reported missing. In the other event, overnight from Monday, 6/11 to Tuesday, 6/12, a stereo was taken from a vehicle parked in the 11000 block of Glueck Lane.


E1 Beat:

• A residential garage burglary occurred in the 5600 block of Warwick Place, Chevy Chase sometime from Friday, 6/8 to Saturday, 6/9. Unforced entry; property taken.

• An attempted residential burglary occurred in the 6500 block of Wiscasset Road, Bethesda overnight from Saturday, 6/9 to Sunday, 6/10. Attempted forced entry; nothing taken.

• Numerous thefts from vehicles were reported this week; almost all in the residential neighborhoods south of River Road, Bethesda. All of the vehicles targeted had been left unsecured and cash was the primary target – although GPS units, iPods, and other electronics were taken as well.
  • Overnight from Tuesday, 6/5 to Wednesday, 6/6, fifteen thefts from vehicles were reported in the neighborhood south of River Road (between Goldsboro Road and Little Falls Parkway). Additionally a vehicle theft was reported from this same area; a key had been left inside.

  • Overnight from Friday, 6/8 to Saturday, 6/9, seven incidents occurred in the Friendship Heights/Somerset neighborhood.

  • Overnight from Sunday, 6/10 to Monday, 6/11, two vehicles in the Bannockburn neighborhood were entered and searched.

  • On Monday, 6/11 between 1:00 a.m. and 5:30 a.m., eleven thefts occurred in the Glen Echo neighborhood. In addition to these thefts, two vehicles were reported stolen during this same time period; keys had been left inside both vehicles.

E2 Beat:

• A commercial burglary occurred at the Foundation of NIH, 9560 Rockville Pike, Bethesda overnight from Tuesday, 6/5 to Wednesday, 6/6. Unknown means of entry; property taken.

• Twelve thefts from vehicles were reported this week in this Bethesda beat; none of the vehicles affected were entered using force. Cash, CDs, laptops, iPods, and other items left inside were taken. No suspects were seen at any of these events.
  • Between midnight and 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, 6/5, three vehicles parked in the 5600 block of Forest Place were entered and searched.

  • Overnight from Tuesday, 6/5 to Wednesday, 6/6, nine thefts occurred in the Wyngate/ Oakmont neighborhoods. Additionally a vehicle theft occurred in this same area during this same time frame.

E3 Beat:

• No significant incidents


E4 Beat:

• Five thefts from vehicles occurred on Tuesday, 6/5 between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. in the parking garages at 5500 Marinelli Road and 5300 Tuckerman Lane, North Bethesda. Forced entry; GPS units were targeted.
