Metro Track Work Planner for February 27-March 2, 2012

Metro will advance rebuilding efforts during off-peak hours Monday, February 27, through Friday, March 2, 2012.

Red Line
  • Monday through Thursday evenings, beginning at 10 p.m., trains will single track between Takoma and Forest Glen for fiber optic cable installation and platform rehabilitation. Once work begins, Red Line trains will depart endpoint terminals every 22 minutes. Customers should allow 10-15 minutes of additional travel time.

Orange Line
  • Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., trains will single track between Foggy Bottom and Arlington Cemetery for rail, fastener, tie and insulator renewal. Customers should allow 10 minutes of additional travel time.
  • Monday through Thursday, beginning at 10 p.m. each night, trains will single track between East Falls Church and West Falls Church for testing associated with the Dulles rail project, and between Eastern Market and Stadium-Armory for station platform rehabilitation. Customers should allow about 20 minutes of additional travel time.

Blue Line
  • Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day, trains will single track between Foggy Bottom and Arlington Cemetery for rail, fastener, tie and insulator renewal, and between Eastern Market and Stadium-Armory for station platform rehabilitation. Customers should allow 20 minutes of additional travel time.

Green Line
  • Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day, trains will single track between Southern Avenue and Naylor Road for rail and fastener renewal. Customers should allow about 10 minutes of additional travel time.

Yellow Line
  • No scheduled work.
Metro is advancing a six-year, $5 billion Capital Improvement Program (CIP) that is focused on safety and bringing the Metro system into a state of good repair. In FY2012, the CIP includes projects to replace escalators; retrofit track; replace critical track circuitry and equipment along the right of way; rehabilitate third-rail power systems, running rail and track pads; modernize 12 stations; replace 100 Metrobuses and the rehabilitate 100 more; renovate three bus garages; and install 30 new track turnouts.
