Police are investigating a possible homicide which occurred in the White Oak area of Silver Spring yesterday afternoon.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division – Robbery Section and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are investigating a bank robbery that occurred in Potomac on January 27. A surveillance photo of the masked suspect is included and a reward of up to $1,000 for information is being offered by CrimeSolvers.

A long-term police investigation has resulted in the arrests of several Rockville business owners for conducting prostitution and human trafficking under the guise of acupressure and massage establishments.

Detectives from the 1st and 2nd District Investigative Sections continue to investigate over two dozen incidents of theft of copper gutters and copper downspouts from area residences. Since November 1, 2011 to January 24, there have been 26 incidents in Bethesda, Potomac, and Rockville.

A senior at Montgomery Blair High School student was named a finalist in the prestigious 2012 Intel Science Talent Search and will compete for the top prize of $100,000. He is one of just 40 finalists nationally and is the only finalist from the state of Maryland.

Volunteers from the Future Vote Program of the Montgomery County Board of Elections will conduct voter registration drives on Saturdays, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Sundays, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., during January and February at local public libraries.
