Rockville Police Arrest Four in Assault, Robbery

ROCKVILLE, Md., Dec. 29, 2011 - The Rockville City Police Department arrested two Rockville men and two Rockville teens in connection with an assault and robbery that occurred Dec. 20 near the Rockville Metro Station.

Fredis Salomon Mendez, 19, of the 1200 block of First Street, and Denzell Curtis Parker, 18, of the 300 block of N. Van Buren Street, along with two juveniles, 16 and 17, were charged with one count each of robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, theft, conspiracy to commit theft, second-degree assault and conspiracy to commit second degree assault. Rockville City Police made the arrests Dec. 28.

Rockville City Police were called at approximately 11:30 p.m. Dec. 20 after it was reported that a man had been robbed while walking home from the Rockville Metro Station. When police arrived, the victim reported that multiple suspects punched him in the face, took his wallet and fled on foot.

Rockville City Police alerted neighboring law enforcement agencies of the incident and gave a description of the individuals. On Dec. 21 in the early evening, Montgomery County plain clothes officers observed four individuals acting suspiciously and witnessed the group shoplifting at the 7-11 in the Burgundy Center on Rockville Pike.

Rockville City Police stopped the four individuals and interviewed them. All implicated themselves in the Dec. 20 assault and robbery during questioning. The juvenile suspects were released to the custody of their parents and the adults were issued criminal citations for the shoplifting incident.

Rockville City Police then worked to obtain arrest warrants for the four in the Dec. 20 incident. Police arrested Mendez, Parker and the juveniles on Dec. 28 without incident.

Mendez and Parker were taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit. Bond information is not currently available. The 17-year-old was released to a parent with a home monitoring device and the 16-year-old was taken to a juvenile detention facility under the direction of the Department of Juvenile Justice.

Anyone with information about this incident or the individuals involved is asked to call Rockville City Police Criminal Investigations Unit at 240-314-8989.
