Volunteers Needed   Olney Home For Life, a new non-profit, has formed to provide voluntary, no-fee services to seniors and disabled residents in the Greater Olney Area. Volunteers are needed to provide transportation to and from medical appointments, grocery shopping, religious services and community events. Our neighbor-to-neighbor approach depends on volunteers who are willing to assist one another. There is no minimum commitment of hours or trips – volunteer as your schedule allows. Most service requests involve a scheduled pickup at the requester's home, assistance with getting to and into the vehicle, transport to the destination, assistance with exiting the vehicle and into the building/facility and pick-up and return to the requester's home. Volunteer drivers must be age 18 or older, have and maintain a valid driver’s license and a registered and insured vehicle. Volunteers will be asked to submit three letters of reference. A brief information session and volunteer orientation will take place on November 16th from 7:30pm – 8:30pm at the Lutheran Church of The Good Shepherd, 4200 Olney Laytonsville Road, Olney, MD 20832.
