Community 'Listen and Learn' Events
First Superintendent's Book Club set for November
Dr. Joshua P. Starr, superintendent of Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS), has announced dates and locations for 10 “Listen and Learn” events he is hosting this fall to meet with school system stakeholders.
The events will provide Dr. Starr an opportunity to meet with a variety of parents, students, staff and community members to hear their observations and perspectives on MCPS. They are among a series of public events he has planned to get to know the community in his first six months.
The “Listen and Learn” events for the community have been scheduled as follows:
Three Superintendent’s Book Club events also have been announced. The first event, set for November 29, will be held at the Carver Educational Services Center, 850 Hungerford Drive in Rockville, and will be available via webinar. Dr. Starr has selected Mindset: The New Psychology of Success by Carol Dweck for the first book club.
The two other book clubs are scheduled for January 31, 2012 and April 24, 2012.
Superintendent Starr will host two Town Hall-style meetings for students, which are slated for October 12 and November 9. Locations have not been set, but students from all over MCPS will be able to participate by submitting questions via Twitter and email. Both Town Halls will be streamed live on the web.
