Olney Maryland Chamber of Commerce News Flash - July 18, 2011
March 28 OCC Flash July 18, 2011 National Night Out~August 2 National Night Out is just a week away. This year's event will take place on Tuesday, August 2 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on the MGH Grounds located at the corner of Rt. 108 and Prince Philip Drive in Olney. The local police and fire departments will be on hand so visitors can look at police and fire vehicles and will also have several demonstrations. There will be music to entertain while visiting exhibits from local businesses, free child ids provided by the US Secret Service, free children's activities provided by Longwood Community Center, and the Olney Chamber raffle to benefit the sponsors of the event. There will also be a food tent with Mamma Lucia pizza and Urban BarBQue sandwiches, slaw, and beans, and Rita's will have cold Italian Ice. Food tickets will be sold in $1 increments. All proceeds from the food tent will benefit the local police and fire departments. It is not too late to get involved. There is still time to sponsor the event, be an exhibitor, donate a door prize, or be a volunteer. Volunteers are needed at the Chamber table from 5:00-8:00 p.m. in one hour shifts, and to help with parking in 1/2 hour shifts. Put on your company shirt and hat and come out to lend a hand. If you would like to volunteer email the Chamber at chamber@olneymd.org. The success of National Night Out depends upon the local business community for support. The profits from the event go to the Olney Police Satellite Station, the Sandy Spring Volunteer Fire Department, the MD National Capital Park Police and Crime Solvers.
