Default Arson Suspected in Early Morning Fire Last Week

Fire Investigators Seek Public’s Help – Call Arson Tip Line @ 240.777.2263

Around 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 29, 2007 units from the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service were dispatched for a report of a house on fire at 10101 Gardiner Avenue, in the Forest Glen neighborhood of Silver Spring. A motorist passing by called 9-1-1 to report the fire.
First arriving firefighters encountered heavy fire coming from an unoccupied single family house. The two and a half story house was under renovation. It took fire fighters about 45 minutes to contain the 2-alarm house fire.

Montgomery County Fire and Explosive Investigators continue to review the circumstances surrounding the house fire. Fire Investigators have determined the fire to be arson. Damage is estimated to be approximately $400,000 to the structure. There were no injuries. Furthermore, a vehicle and construction material nearby were also damaged by the fire.
