Suspicious Death in Gaithersburg Updated Information See the 2011 Montgomery County Homicide Map Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division – Homicide/Sex Section are investigating a suspicious death that occurred last night in the Cider Mill Apartment complex in Gaithersburg. At approximately 11:02 p.m. on February 15, 6th District officers responded to a call for a domestic violence incident in an apartment in the 18300 block of Lost Knife Circle. Responding officers found an adult male who was pronounced dead at the scene. They also found an injured adult female. She was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The incident is believed to be domestic. The body of the adult male is being transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Baltimore where an autopsy will determine the cause and manner of his death. Detectives are in the process of confirming the identities of the adults and their relationship to one another. A motive for this incident remains under investigation. The names of man and woman will be released after family members have been notified. Anyone who has information in reference to this incident is asked to call Homicide detectives at 240-773-5070. Update Update Update Update Suspicious Death Investigated as an Attempted Murder/Suicide Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division Homicide/Sex Section continue to investigate the suspicious death that occurred last night in the Cider Mill apartment complex in Montgomery Village. They are investigating the death as an attempted murder/suicide. At this stage of the investigation it is believed that the deceased male, Aggrey Mulo Naya, age 46, from the 18300 block of Lost Knife Circle, assaulted his wife, Magdalene Syomba Naya, age 36, from the same block address, with a hammer, and then took his own life. After being struck inside her residence, Magdalene Naya was able to escape from the apartment. The couple’s two daughters, ages 15 and 10, were asleep in the home when the attack occurred. They were not injured. They are currently being cared for by family friends. At approximately 11: 02 p.m. on Tuesday, February 15, 6th District officers responded to a call for domestic violence in the 18300 block of Lost Knife Circle. Outside the apartment building they found the female suffering from a severe trauma to the head. She was transported to an area hospital for treatment and remains hospitalized in critical condition. She is expected to survive her injuries. Aggrey Naya was found unresponsive in a bedroom. He was suffering from apparent self-inflicted stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Medical Examiner has now ruled the manner of death suicide and the cause of death stab wounds. The motive for this domestic attempted murder/suicide remains under investigation. |
