Dian Belanger, author and historian -- whose recent book “Deep Freeze,” relates the story of the men and women who pioneered modern-day scientific exploration of Antarctica and established the first functioning communities on the continent – will be the guest speaker at the spring author series to be held at the Rockville Library on April 21.
Co-sponsored by Friends of the Library, Rockville Chapter and Montgomery County Public Libraries, the free event will be held in the first floor meeting room, beginning at 10 a.m. The library is located at 21 Maryland Avenue.
Belanger, a Montgomery County resident, will talk about the experiences and scientific discoveries of the explorers who, in the 1950s, joined with their peers from 11 other countries to take part in the International Geophysical Year (IGY).
