The 30th Anniversary of the 1977 Houston Women’s Rights Conference will be commemorated at a special program featuring girls’ and women’s rights advocates to be held at the Montgomery County Commission for Women in Rockville on April 18, from 7 to 9 p.m. Sponsored by the Maryland Women’s Heritage Center and the commission, the program is entitled “Generations of Women Moving History Forward.”
Two leaders from the Houston Conference, Carmen Delgado Votaw and Anne S. Kasper, Ph.D., will talk about their experiences at that event, as well as at subsequent women’s conferences coordinated by the United Nations. Votaw is the former co-chair of the National Advisory Committee for Women. Kasper is a founding member of the U.S. Women’s Health Movement and was an analyst on women’s health issues for the Houston Conference.
