Commission for Women to Host 31st Annual Women's Legislative Briefing; Keynote Speakers:  Sara Manzano-Diaz of the Women's Bureau, Dr. DeRionne Pollard, Montgomery College President

Two powerful women -- Sara Manzano-Diaz of the Women’s Bureau and Dr. DeRionne Pollard, president of Montgomery College -- will anchor the 2011 Women’s Legislative Briefing to be held on January 30, from 12:30 to 6 p.m., at the University of Maryland, Shady Grove, Building II, 9630 Gudelsky Dr., Rockville.

Manzano-Díaz is the sixteenth Director of the Women's Bureau at the U. S. Department of Labor. Created by Congress in 1920, the year women were granted the right to vote, it is the only federal agency exclusively mandated to serve and promote the interests of working women. Director Manzano-Díaz’ mission is to empower working women nationwide to achieve economic security.
