Lyme Park, written by playwright, actress, and director Nandita Shenoy, is an "Austonian Romance of an Indian Nature" inspired by Jane Austen's Northanger Abbey. This modern-day retelling follows the adventures of Kavita and her friend Violet on a tour of the English countryside as Kavita tries to find her own Mr. Darcy. Kavita is faced with the choice between living in a Pride & Prejudice fantasy world of her own making or the not-so-tidy world of reality as she grapples with questions of identity and how to know true love. theHegira, a DC-based theatre company, showcases works that link women of color. The Sarah Play provides metro area high school students the resources and guidance to mount a production at Round House under the mentorship of professional theatre artists and practitioners. Inspired by one of America's greatest visual artists, Charles Mee creates a Rauschenberg-esque collage of images, music, and dance that paints a distinct history of a nation and culture as well as a glimpse into its future. Students can be dropped off between 8 and 9am and the program day ends at 5pm. Students must be registered by the Friday before the program date.
