Enjoy a Sneak Preview November 26 & 27
Gaithersburg, MD (October 20, 2010). The City of Gaithersburg Winter Lights Festival is ready to welcome visitors for its 15th season. The dazzling display of lights at Seneca Creek State Park will be open nightly from Friday, December 3, 2010 through Saturday, January 1, 2011. Please note that the festival will be closed on all Mondays and on December 25.
Be among the first to see the lights when you visit the park for a sneak preview on Friday and Saturday, November 26 and 27. During the two-day premiere the festival will be open from 6 to 10 p.m. Admission is $15 per car.
The 3.5 mile drive through the enchanted setting of Seneca Creek State Park takes you past more than 380 illuminated displays and 60 animated vignettes that light up the night. Themed areas include Winter Woods, Teddy Bear Land, Victorian Village, the North Pole, and much more. The park is located at 11950 Clopper Road, just a few miles west of the intersection with I-270.
Winter Lights will really come alive this year when you experience the festival in a whole new way with special holographic viewing glasses. They cost just $2 per pair, or purchase three pair for only $5 (cash only). Please note that the glasses are suitable for passengers only, not the driver.
In the spirit of the holidays, proceeds from the 2010 festival will benefit local charities, including the Dolores Swoyer Camp Scholarship Fund, Gaithersburg Community Volunteer Soup Kitchen, Friends of Seneca Creek State Park, Shady Grove Adventist Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Gaithersburg HELP, and the Gaithersburg Holiday Giving Program.
Winter Lights is open Sunday through Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 6 to 10 p.m. The Festival is closed on all Mondays and on December 25. Cash-only admission is $12 per car Tuesday through Thursday and $15 per car Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
