Officers from the Montgomery County Police 2nd District are investigating a serious personal injury pedestrian collision that occurred this afternoon in North Bethesda.
Just before 2:00 p.m., 2nd District officers responded to the report of a pedestrian struck at the intersection of Gloxinia Drive and Tuckerman Lane. That portion of Tuckerman Lane is four lanes divided by a concrete median strip, with a speed limit of 45 miles per hour.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 13-year-old girl from Kensington and her girlfriend were attempting to cross Tuckerman Lane. As they stepped off the curb, the drivers of two cars in the lane closest to the curb stopped for them. As they continued into the second lane approaching the median strip, a 45-year-old woman from Kensington was driving a silver 2004 Volvo station wagon in the lane nearest the median strip.
