Tips of the Week:
The Rockville City Police Department would like to remind residents that if you are in a vehicle during a power outage, use the following safety tips: - Intersections that have traffic signals out because of a power outage should be treated as a four-way stop intersection. The vehicle on your right has the right of way.
- Stop at all railroad crossings until you are sure the tracks are clear.
- Obey law enforcement officers directing traffic.
- Watch out for downed power lines. Do not attempt to drive over or under wires.
- Watch out for pedestrians along darkened roads.

City Police Reported Incidents

ILLEGAL DRUG ARRESTS- 07/24/10-(1:34 a.m. – 2:19 a.m.) Ashley Marie Sippel, F, age 19, of Rockville, was arrested for possession of CDS-paraphernalia following a traffic stop in the 500 block of Hungerford Drive. Ms. Sippel was issued a criminal citation and released.
- 07/25/10-(3:20 a.m. – 3:40 a.m.) Douglas David Stermer, M, age 44, of Takoma Park, was arrested for possession of CDS-marijuana following a traffic stop at the intersection of Veirs Mill Road and Bradley Avenue. Mr. Stermer was transported to the Central Processing Unit for processing.
ASSAULT ARRESTS- 07/24/10-(11:04 a.m.) Female juvenile, age 16, of Rockville, was arrested for 2nd degree assault following a complaint in the14000 block of Cove Lane. The female juvenile was transported to the Montgomery County Police Department’s 1st District Station for processing and released into the custody of her uncle.
BURGLARY ARRESTS- 07/18/10-(6:57 p.m.) Male juvenile, age 12, two Male juveniles, both age 14, all of Rockville, were arrested for 4th degree burglary following a complaint in the 600 block of Great Falls Road. The male juveniles were transported to the Montgomery County Police Department’s 1st District Station for processing and released into the custody of their mothers.
THEFT ARRESTS
- 07/20/10-(5:42 p.m.) Muhammad Hajj Abdul-Maleek, M, age 47, of Rockville, was arrested for theft and extortion following a complaint in the Unit block of Maryland Avenue. Mr. Abdul-Maleek was transported to the Central Processing Unit for processing.
VANDALISM ARRESTS
- 07/23/10-(11:25 a.m. – 11:29 a.m.) Gregory Phillip Sanders, M, age 20, of Rockville, was arrested for destruction of property following a complaint in the 200 block of Rockville Pike. Mr. Sanders was issued a criminal citation and released as the scene.
OTHER ARRESTS- 07/20/10-(5:30 p.m. – 6:14 p.m.) Suzette Ann Redwood, F, age 36, of no fixed address was arrested for disorderly conduct and trespassing following a complaint in the 1300 block of Piccard Drive. Ms. Redwood was transported to the Central Processing Unit for processing.
- 07/21/10-(9:20 p.m.) Male juvenile, age 16, of Rockville, was arrested for underage possession of a tobacco product following a complaint in the 100 block of Gibbs Street. The male juvenile was issued a citation and released.
- 07/23/10-(11:10 p.m. – 11:20 p.m.) Linda Moraa Nyanchoka, F, age 25, and Viona K. Nyanchoka, F, age 23, both of Hyattsville were arrested for: L. Nyanchoka for fraudulent display of government identification document belonging to someone else; V. Nyanchoka for lending a government identification document with fraudulent intent following a complaint in the 100 block of Gibbs Street. Both Ms. L. Nyanchoka and Ms. V. Nyanchoka were issued citations and released.
DUI ARRESTS- 07/25/10-(7:56 a.m.) Edwin E. Mijango Martinez, M, age 28, of Gaithersburg, was arrested for driving under the influence following an accident in the 400 block of Monroe Street. Mr. Mijango Martinez was transported to the Rockville City Police Department for processing and released.

THEFTS- 07/16/10-07/18/10-(12:01 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.) 700 block of Wilson Avenue, unknown suspect(s) removed a backpack containing U.S. currency, and two ID cards from an unlocked vehicle.
- 07/16/10-07/18/10-(12:01 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.) 517 Carr Avenue, unknown suspect(s) removed 3 purses from an unlocked vehicle.
- 07/18/10-(12:01 a.m. – 5:30 a.m.) 600 block of Smallwood Road, unknown suspect(s) removed a GPS system and U.S. currency from an unlocked vehicle.
- 07/20/10-07/21/10-(11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.) 1000 block of Grandin Avenue, unknown suspect(s) removed U.S. currency from purse that was in a classroom.
- 07/20/10-07/21/10-(10:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.) 1700 block of Rockville Pike, unknown suspect(s) removed an Ipod, a DVD player, 20 DVDs, a GPS cable, U.S. currency, a video game console, a video game, 3 headphones and a flashlight from an unlocked vehicle.
- 07/21/10-(7:55 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.) Unit block of Taft Court, unknown suspect(s) removed a laptop from an office.
BURGLARIES- 07/17/10-07/22/10-(12:00 p.m. – 11:52 p.m.) 2300 block of Pinneberg Avenue, Residential, unknown suspect(s) removed a storm window and broke the inside glass window to gain access into a residence. Unknown items stolen.
- 07/19/10-07/20/10-(5:00 p.m. – 5:44 a.m.) 400 block of Southlawn Lane, Commercial, unknown suspect(s) gained access by prying open a garage door of a lawn service business. Once inside the unknown suspect(s) removed U.S. currency.
- 07/19/10-(8:54 p.m. – 8:56 p.m.) 600 block of Lofstrand Lane, Commercial, unknown suspect(s) gained access by breaking the front door of business. Nothing taken.
- 07/21/10-(11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.) 300 block of Baltimore Road, Residential, unknown suspect(s) gained access through an unlocked front door of a residence. Once inside the unknown suspect(s) removed 4 video game consoles, 7 video games, 4 video game controllers, a laptop, 2 Ipods and a portable DVD player.
