In this time of increased public awareness about the health of the environment, Montgomery County Public Libraries has announced a new eight-part series entitled “Save the Planet” designed to heighten awareness and encourage dialogue among residents on the issues of climate change and global warming. The free programs, ranging in content and age appeal, will be held from April through November at the Rockville Library, 21 Maryland Avenue. “This series is a good example of how our public libraries can help educate the public on a particular issue,” said MCPL Director Parker Hamilton. “Not only can we provide an appropriate meeting space for the series, we have a wealth of resource materials in the system to complement the programs with additional information.” The series will begin on April 12 with “Save the Planet: What You Can Do About ‘An Inconvenient Truth’” featuring a presentation by Lise Van ...more |
