Rockville will commemorate Arbor Day with a tree planting event at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 17, at Woodley Gardens Park. Trees will be planted around the new playground. Rockville Moms Central and their children will assist with the tree planting. Anyone wishing to participate may attend.

Spring is in the air, so come out to have your bike tuned up with help from the Rockville Bike Advisory Committee from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, April 17, at Thomas Farm Community Center. Then come out on Saturday, April 24, at 10 a.m. for a ride. If you're bike is ready to go, set off on a ride leaving from Welsh Park at 11:30 a.m., April 18 and 25.

Children ages 2-5, and their parents, should stop by the Croydon Creek Nature Center, where they can enjoy listening to a naturalist read a story and taking a hike from 10-11 a.m. April 17 at the nature center, 852 Avery Road. Cost: $3, residents; $5, nonresidents.

Come out for live music and a dance performance to celebrate Earth Day with the Rockville Mayor and Council from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 22. Footworks Percussive Dance Ensemble presents a uniquely American story featuring an exuberant fusion of live music, comedy, singing and a dazzling array of percussive dance forms rooted in different cultures. The performance will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, April 23, at F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre. Tickets are $20, advance; $25 at door.

Grab your board and compete against local skaters of all ages for prizes during a skateboard competition from 2-6 p.m. Saturday, April 24, at the Rockville Sk8park, located next to the Rockville Swim and Fitness Center. A $5 entry fee is payable at the gate. The event will be canceled if it is raining.
