I’m a dog lover so this item is especially disturbing. Yesterday a 13-year-old boy in Montgomery Village was robbed of his 8-week-old puppy. The suspects are other teenagers. Details and photos of the puppy are available.

Effective Monday, March 22, 2010, the Gaithersburg Police Department will be implementing its new beat plan. The plan creates six Police Patrol Areas within the two existing beats, Frederick and Seneca. With the creation of the Police Patrol Areas, officers will be responsible for a smaller geographical area.

Beginning Saturday, March 27, a new traffic pattern will be in place at Interstate 370 and Shady Grove Road. Motorists traveling on westbound Shady Grove Road to access westbound I-370 will now make a left turn at a new traffic signal. Currently, motorists on southbound Shady Grove Road access westbound I-370 from the right.

A Shady Grove Middle School parent is one of 24 statewide semifinalists in the 2010 Comcast Parent Involvement Matters Awards. The award recognizes parents and legal guardians for their exceptional support of public education. Parents are nominated for demonstrating significant, positive impact in their education communities.

It’s official. Maryland State Superintendent Nancy Grasmick has granted a five-day waiver to Montgomery County Public Schools, meaning the district will not have to make up the snow days that resulted from back-to-back blizzards in February.
