REMINDER - Media Advisory - Montgomery County Law Enforcement Unveils New Residential

WHAT: Press conference to unveil the new Montgomery County residential automated speed enforcement program.

WHEN: Monday, March 12, at 9:00 a.m.

WHERE: Meadow Hall Elementary School, 951 Twinbrook Parkway, Rockville (outside in front of the school)

Montgomery County is establishing Maryland’s first automated speed enforcement program to enforce speed limits in residential areas and school zones with a speed limit of 35 miles per hour (mph) or less.

Speakers will include: County Executive Isiah Leggett, Montgomery County Council Member Phil Andrews, City of Rockville Mayor Larry Giammo, Montgomery County Police Chief J. Thomas Manger, and AAA Mid-Atllantic Manger of Public & Government Affairs John Townsend.

Excessive speeding is a significant public safety problem both in Montgomery County and around the state. Speeding-related crashes accounted for 35 percent of all 2005 Maryland traffic fatalities. The public costs ...more
