Gaithersburg Hit and Run Pedestrian Collision

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal hit and run pedestrian collision that occurred this morning on Firstfield Road in Gaithersburg next to Criswell Chevrolet.

Just before 10:00 this morning, officers from the 6th District and Fire and Rescue personnel were dispatched to Firstfield Road near the entrance to Criswell Chevrolet, located at 503 Quince Orchard Road in Gaithersburg, to assist with an injured male victim. The investigation revealed that the victim was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound on Firstfield Road as he was off-loading new vehicles from a car carrier tractor trailer. A vehicle of interest has been identified and is currently under investigation.

The victim was transported to Shady Grove Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. He has been identified as Edward Michael Baer, age 44, of the 11400 block of Collier Court in Hagerstown.

Detectives from the Collision Reconstruction Unit are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or has knowledge concerning the vehicle or the driver involved in this hit-and-run collision to contact them at 301-840-2435.
