Weekly Summary: 1st District, 02/27/07 to 03/07/07 MONTGOMERY COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF POLICE CRIME ANALYSIS SECTION Note that additional incidents may have occurred, but the reports may not have been received as of this overview. District Overview: · Eleven businesses were burglarized on a single evening in and around Congressional Plaza. SeeB1 for details. · A shooting occurred at the Orange Ball Café on Hungerford Drive this past Sunday. Details in A3. A1 Beat: · The same catering truck was targeted for property theft on three consecutive nights beginning on Thursday 3/1. Parked at three different locations in the same general area, a suspect was seen on the third night by the vehicle owners. He was seen running into the wooded area along Parklawn Drive, scared off by an approaching security guard. · Suspect: Black male brown puffy jacket with a hood, dark brown jeans
· Two cases of beer were stolen from an open garage in the 15000 block of Red Clover Drive on Saturday 3/3 between 9:30 pm and 10:30 pm. CR# R07-011605 · A vehicle was stolen from the Forest Apartment parking lot between Saturday 3/3 at 8:00 pm and Sunday 3/4 at 8:00 am. CR#07-011639 Stolen Vehicle: 2000 Honda Civic 2 door, black, after market rims and exhaust NC/VPM3974 A3 Beat: · A robbery/shooting occurred in the parking lot of the Orange Ball Café, 430 Hungerford Drive, on Sunday 3/4 around 2:00 am. The four male occupants of a vehicle were approached by a lone suspect who placed a gun to the head of the front seat passenger and demanded money. After the victims turned over “some” money, the gunman then shot the victim in the foot and demanded more. After getting “some more” money, the victims fled in their car, only to be followed by the suspect. A crash and bailout occurred near the Rockville Metro where the suspect then got into a waiting red vehicle. Suspect: Black male 20-30 years, white hoody “with stars”, handgun · A residential burglary occurred in the 400 block of MacArthur Drive on Friday 3/2 around 12:30 pm. The homeowner, who rents out the basement level to her son, heard glass breaking and discovered her son’s homeless ex-girlfriend inside looking around. She stated she was “looking for a ring.” Jewelry and cash were stolen. CR# R07-011292 · For the second time this year, Erick & Co. Catering (616 South Stonestreet Ave) was burglarized. On Tuesday 3/6 around 12:09 am, units responded for an alarm and discovered a forced entry. Cash and coins were stolen. The first incident was 2/15. CR# R07-011956 Video provided the following: Suspect: Unknown race male black hoody, light blue jeans, tan boots, tan construction gloves A4 Beat: · A burglary of the warehouse area of the Great Indoors, 16331 Shady Grove Road, occurred sometime between Friday 3/2 at 8:20 pm and Saturday 3/3 at 9:25 am. Several boxes of various size tiles were stolen. CR# R07-011500 B1 Beat: Between Friday 3/2 at 10:05 pm and Saturday 3/3 at 5:50 am, eleven commercial establishments in and around Congressional Plaza were broken into. Eight of them had the front door lock area pried. Of the eleven, only Hector’s Tailoring reported anything missing (money, coats and suits). CR# R07-011461
B2 Beat: · Lawn care equipment was stolen from an unlocked shed in the 11600 block of Regency Drive sometime between Wednesday 2/28 and Friday 3/2. B3 Beat: · No significant activity B4 Beat: · A garage burglary occurred in the 13300 block of Manor Stone Drive on Tuesday 2/27 between 12:15 am and 7:15 am. The garage door was pried up about 2 feet and at least one vehicle inside had a window shattered to allow entry. A second vehicle was unlocked. Electronics and cash were among the property stolen. CR# R07-010619 · Between 11 am and 2:30 pm on Monday 3/5, a rear window was broken to access a residence in the 9400 block of Woodington Drive.
