Fatal Collision in Wheaton

The Montgomery County Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision that occurred this morning in Wheaton.

At approximately 7:50 a.m., 4th District officers and Fire Rescue personnel responded to the 6300 block of Muncaster Mill Road, for a report of a serious personnel injury collision.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of a 1999 Toyota 4 Runner, silver in color, was traveling northbound on Muncaster Mill Road, north of Bowie Mill Road. The driver lost control of his vehicle on the icy roadway, struck the curb, then struck a tree and came to rest in the wooded area on the eastside of the roadway. The driver was pronounced dead on the scene.

The cause of this collision is currently under investigation by the Collision Reconstruction Unit. Additional information will be provided upon notification to victim’s family. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or may have additional information is asked to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 301-840-2435.

Victim Identified in Fatal Wheaton Collision

The Montgomery County Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision that occurred this morning in Wheaton.

At approximately 7:50 a.m., 4th District officers and Fire Rescue personnel responded to the 6300 block of Muncaster Mill Road, for a report of a serious personnel injury collision.

The Detectives from the Collision Reconstruction Unit have determined the 1999 Toyota 4 Runner, silver in color, was driven by David Charang Kang, 68 years of age, of the 17700 block of Crystal Spring Terrace, Ashton MD. The vehicle was traveling northbound on Muncaster Mill Road, north of Bowie Mill Road. The driver lost control of his vehicle on the icy roadway, struck the curb, then struck a tree and came to rest in the wooded area on the eastside of the roadway. The driver was pronounced dead on the scene.
