Rockville Launches Online City Project Tracking System
Status of Dozens of Major City Projects Now Easier to
Follow Through Unique Web-based Tool Developed by City
ROCKVILLE, Md., March 8, 2007—The City of Rockville has launched a new online tool that will help citizens interested in specific projects quickly view what has been done on those projects and get more information about what is coming up next. The new resource is available at the City’s Web site,
www.rockvillemd.gov. Dozens of projects related to the Mayor and Council’s priorities for the City are routinely updated for the governing body and the public. Those updates are presented through quarterly reports at Mayor and Council meetings, in budget documents and through the City’s communication activities including the City’s newsletter Rockville Reports.
This new Web resource gives an overview of each project, which includes a list of specific tasks and milestones being completed. The projects are organized by department and include a person to contact for more information.
The projects tracked through the system range from the City’s Fiscal Year 2008 funding requests from the United States Congress and the Maryland State Legislature to the progress on the construction of the new Thomas Farm Community Center.
“We’re excited to be able to offer this new tool for residents,” said Jenny Kimball, assistant to the city manager. “The City strives to make sure our citizens are fully informed about City government operations. The City’s online project tracking system will enable residents to stay on top of major projects happening in the City and be able to access the latest information available with a few clicks.”
