Rockville Civic Ballet Presents ‘As You Like It’ at F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre in March

March 24 and 25 Shows Feature A Shakespeare Classic and
Original Ballet From Rockville’s Premier Performance Troupe

ROCKVILLE, Md., March 1, 2007— The Rockville Civic Ballet will perform “As You Like It” and an original ballet called “Triangles,” on Saturday, March 24, and Sunday, March 25, at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre.
Rockville Civic Ballet Director and Rockville resident, Claudia Mangan, choreographed both performances and created “Triangles.”

“I like to tell stories,” said Mangan. “More than just guiding the ballet steps, I enjoy adding theatrical elements to our shows. That’s how I choose what to choreograph.”

Mangan calls her rendition of William Shakespeare’s “As You Like It,” a fast-paced romantic comedy. The show will feature 30-plus dancing children as jesters along with sophisticated adult dancers.

The second feature is “Triangles,” which Mangan describes as a contemporary movement piece featuring music by popular Russian composer, Aram Khachaturian.

Both “As You Like It” and “Triangles” will include a number of Rockville ballet veterans along with a mix of newer dancers. The Rockville Civic Ballet is an all-volunteer group of people of all ages and abilities. Few comparable groups exist in the metro area.

Show times are 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, and 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 25. Tickets are $12 for general admission and $8 for children aged 12 and under, and senior citizens aged 60 and over. Group rates are available.

Assigned seat tickets may be purchased in person, by telephone or by mail order at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre Box Office beginning Feb. 27. In-person sales are available from 2-7 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre is located at 603 Edmonston Dr. For more information, call 240-314-8690
