Police Investigate Fatal Pedestrian
Collision in Silver Spring

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred early this morning in the 13300 block of Georgia Avenue.

Today at approximately 1:48 a.m., a 4th District officer was southbound on Georgia Avenue near Regina Drive responding to another call. He observed another vehicle, also southbound on Georgia Avenue; strike a pedestrian in the southbound lanes. The officer stopped the vehicle and summonsed assistance from Fire/Rescue and other police units.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the pedestrian was attempting to cross the southbound lanes of Georgia Avenue near Regina Drive. He was traveling in an east to west direction when he was struck in the curb lane by a blue 1993 Geo Prism with Maryland registration. The victim was transported to Holy Cross Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the striking vehicle was not injured and remained on the scene. He has been identified as Jonathan Reyes Hernandez, 19 years old, of the 10300 block of Insley Street in Silver Spring. He was not injured.

The pedestrian is described as a male who is approximately 50 years old. His identity will be released as soon as family is notified.

Anyone who witnessed this collision is asked to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 301-840-2435.

Victim Identified from Fatal
Pedestrian Collision in Silver Spring

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Collision Reconstruction Unit are continuing to investigate the fatal pedestrian collision that occurred early this morning in the 13300 block of Georgia Avenue.

The victim has been identified as Victor Ramos, age 50, of an unconfirmed address. Detectives have not yet been able to locate any family members of the victim.

On Sunday, September 20 at approximately 1:48 a.m., a 4th District officer was traveling southbound on Georgia Avenue near Regina Drive responding to another call. He observed another vehicle, also southbound on Georgia Avenue; strike a pedestrian in the southbound lanes.
