Leggett to Recognize Affordable Housing Success Stories with
County Executive Isiah Leggett will join six County families to celebrate their success in becoming first-time homeowners. The families received closing cost awards for their home purchases as part of the “Break the Barrier to Home Ownership” contest at the 2008 and 2009 Affordable Housing Conference of Montgomery County. Funding for the awards was made available by the Affordable Housing Conference, Aris Mardirossian, MCT Federal Credit Union, PNC Bank, housing advocate Norman Dreyfuss, the Amanter Fund and Buffy and William Cafritz. Over the last nine years, the Conference and its sponsors have awarded $147,500 in closing cost assistance funds, making it possible for 21 families to purchase homes in Montgomery County. ...more
