*excludes stolen tags G1 Beat: • An armed robbery occurred in the 8500 block of 2nd Avenue in Silver Spring on Wednesday, 7/22 at 12:30 a.m. An adult male was walking in the area when he was approached by the suspect who displayed a handgun and demanded his property. The victim complied and the suspect fled on foot after obtaining the victim’s property. Suspect: B/M, 18-24 years, 5’10”, 140-150 lbs. armed with a black handgun • An armed robbery occurred at the Majestic Theatre, 900 Ellsworth Drive in Silver Spring on Friday, 7/24 at 6:14 p.m. The adult male victim was involved in a verbal altercation with the suspect, who took personal property from him and fled on foot. The teenage suspect was later arrested. Arrested: Male, age 27, from Silver Spring • A strong-arm robbery occurred in the 700 block of Sligo Avenue in Silver Spring on Saturday, 7/25 at 10:46 p.m. An adult female was waiting for an elevator when the male suspect approached her, punched her in her face, snatched her purse and fled on foot. Suspect: B/M, 20-25 years, 5’10”, 150-180 lbs., bald head • An armed robbery occurred in the area of the 8500 block of Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring on Sunday, 7/26 at 2:04 a.m. An adult male was approached by an unknown suspect who placed a sharp instrument against his throat and demanded his property. The victim complied and the suspect fled with the victim’s property. Suspect: H/M, 6’2”, 200 lbs., scar under right eye, armed with sharp object • An aggravated assault occurred at the Rio Tempa Restaurant at 8200 Piney Branch Road in Silver Spring on Sunday, 7/26 at 1:20 a.m. An adult male was stabbed as he stood at a bar. The suspect approached the victim and for no apparent reason, cut him across his throat with a knife. The adult male suspect hid inside the restaurant but was detained by security until patrol arrived and arrested him. Arrested: Male, age 30, from Hyattsville • A commercial burglary occurred at The Pyramid Atlantic Art Center at 8230 Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring between Tuesday, 7/21 at 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday, 7/22 at 9:30 a.m. Forced entry, property taken. • A residential burglary occurred in the1400 block of Fenwick Lane in Silver Spring on Wednesday, 7/22 at approximately 11:00 a.m. No forced entry, nothing was taken. • There were eleven thefts from vehicles in Silver Spring between Monday, 7/20 and Friday, 7/24. All vehicles were broken into in garages/lots in the central business district of Silver Spring. Most of the incidents occurred between the mid-morning and early evening hours. In ten of the incidents, the suspects broke a window to gain entry. GPS systems were the item of choice in nine of the incidents. The garages/lots targeted were on Ellsworth Drive, Wayne Avenue, Colesville Road, Cameron Street, Spring Street and East West Highway. G2 Beat: • An attempted residential burglary occurred in the 10000 block of Tenbrook Drive in Silver Spring between Saturday, 7/25 at 11:00 p.m. and Sunday, 7/26 at 9:00 a.m. Attempted forced entry, no entry gained, nothing taken. • A commercial burglary occurred at The Gardner Recreation Pool at 10012 Gardner Avenue in Silver Spring between Monday, 7/27 at 9:16 p.m. and Tuesday, 7/28 at 11:00 a.m. Unknown entry, property taken. • There were eight thefts from vehicles between the late evening hours on Thursday, 7/23 and the early morning hours on Friday, 7/24. In five of the incidents, the suspects used unknown means to enter the vehicles. Cash, cell phones, GPS systems, tires and electronic equipment were taken. Streets targeted included Lansdowne Way (3 incidents), Russell Road, Black Oak Court, Cody Drive, Live Oak Drive and Sligo Avenue in Silver Spring. H1 Beat: • An armed robbery/aggravated assault occurred in a rear parking lot in the 1000 block of Quebec Terrace in Silver Spring on Saturday, 7/25 at 10:37 p.m. The suspects approached the adult male victim and demanded cash. When he refused, they assaulted him, knocked him to the ground and shot him in the head with a BB gun. The suspects then searched the victim’s pocket, took personal property, and fled on foot. Suspects: (4) B/Ms, dark clothing, one with work sunglasses and a scarf, armed with a BB gun H2 Beat: • No significant activity. I1 Beat: • A residential burglary occurred in the 1700 block of January Drive in White Oak on Friday, 7/24 between 4:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. No forced entry, property taken. • A residential burglary occurred in the 11900 block of Rumsfeld Terrace in Silver Spring on Saturday, 7/25 between 4:45 p.m. and 9:40 p.m. No forced entry, property taken. • An attempted residential burglary occurred in the 11900 block of Rumsfeld Terrace in Silver Spring on Sunday, 7/26 between 12:15 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Attempted forced entry, none gained, nothing taken. • A commercial burglary occurred at Sears at 11255 New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring on Wednesday, 7/29 between 12:41 a.m. and 1:03 a.m. Forced entry, unknown if property was taken. I2 Beat: • A robbery occurred at the 7-11 at 13880 Old Columbia Pike in Silver Spring was robbed on Wednesday, 7/22 at 5:40 a.m. Three suspects entered the store; one displayed a handgun and demanded cash. Two of the three adult male suspects were arrested by the K9 unit the same day while a third was arrested a few days later. Arrested: Three males, ages 20, 19, and 20, two addresses unknown, one from Silver Spring. • A robbery occurred in the13900 block of Castle Boulevard in Silver Spring on Monday, 9/27 at 1:40 p.m. An adult male was robbed after he entered the wrong residence. The victim, who thought he was visiting a friend, knocked on the door and was let into the unit. He was then accosted by two suspects who demanded personal property. The victim complied and the suspects fled out the door. Suspects: (2) B/Ms, 20-25 years, 5’7”-5’10” & 140-170 lbs. • An aggravated assault occurred in the parking lot of the Chuck E. Cheese at 13811 Outlet Drive in Briggs Chaney on Sunday, 7/26 at 1:17 p.m. An innocent bystander and a suspect were shot after the suspect was involved in a confrontation with another suspect. • An attempted residential burglary occurred in the14300 block of Fairdale Road in Silver Spring on Tuesday, 7/21 at 11:40 a.m. Attempted forced entry, victim home, suspect did not gain entry or remove any property. • A residential burglary occurred in the13700 block of Colgate Way in Silver Spring on Wednesday, 7/22 between 11:00 a.m. and 11:45 p.m. Unknown type entry, property taken. |
