G1 Beat:

• An aggravated assault occurred in front of the Starbucks located at 8399 Colesville Road in Silver Spring on Thursday, 6/25 at 5:12 p.m. The suspect, armed with a knife, approached the victim. The victim was able to grab the suspect and push the knife away. The suspect fled on foot.
Suspect: B/F 5’5” to 5’6”, 115-120 lbs., black tank top, blue jeans, armed with a knife

• A commercial burglary occurred at the Storage Garage located at 1509 East West Highway in Silver Spring on Saturday, 6/27 between 11:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. No forced entry, property was taken.

• Thefts from Vehicles (Parking lots/garages): Between Thursday, 6/25 and Monday, 6/29, 12 vehicles were broken into in commercial parking garages/lots in the downtown Silver Spring area. The time of occurrence varied. In six of the incidents, the suspect(s) broke windows to gain entry. GPS systems were the items of choice in nine of the incidents.


G2 Beat:

• A residential burglary occurred in the unit block of Wessex Road in Silver Spring on Wednesday, 6/24 between 10:30 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. Forced entry was made and property was taken.

• A report of a peeping tom occurred in the 2000 block of Belvedere Boulevard in Silver Spring on Monday, 6/22 at 1:30 a.m. The adult female victim observed the suspect looking into her apartment. The victim yelled and the suspect fled on foot.
Suspect: U/M 5’7 thin build, blue hoodie, white shirt and jeans


H1 Beat:

• An armed robbery occurred in the 8900 block of Piney Branch Road in Silver Spring on Monday, 6/22 at 11:57 a.m. The suspects approached the victim, grabbed him, searched his pocket and removed cash. One of the suspects stabbed the victim with a knife in the side after the robbery and all suspects fled on foot.
Suspects: (3) B/M’s 5’9” to 6’1” 240-260 lbs., cornrows, and one armed with a knife

• An attempted strong-arm robbery occurred at University Boulevard and Piney Branch Road in Silver Spring on Monday, 6/22 at 11:00 p.m. The suspects approached the victim and demanded money and began to assault the victim. One suspect was arrested.
Suspect: H/M, 17-18 yrs, 5’6” to 5’9”

• An attempted armed robbery occurred in the 8800 block of Piney Branch Road in Silver Spring on Saturday, 6/27 at 5:11 p.m. The suspects drove alongside the victim, displayed a gun and demanded money. The victim refused and the suspects fled in the listed vehicle.
Suspects: (2) W/M’s one armed with a handgun
Vehicle: Black Cadillac

• An attempted armed robbery occurred in the 1000 block of Quebec Terrace in Silver Spring on Saturday, 6/27 at 5:00 p.m. The suspects drove alongside the victim, displayed a gun, and demanded money. The victims were able to flee without the suspects obtaining anything.
Suspects: (2) B/M’s wearing white tank tops armed with handguns;
Vehicle: Black Cadillac

• A residential burglary occurred in the 8800 block of Bradford Road in Silver Spring between Monday, 6/22 at 3:00 p.m. and Thursday, 6/25 at 10:00 p.m. No forced entry and property was taken.

• A residential burglary occurred in the 8000 block of Greenwood Avenue in Takoma Park on Tuesday, 6/30 between 10:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Forced entry was made and property was taken.


H2 Beat:

• A residential burglary occurred in the 100 block of Ames Road in Silver Spring on Friday, 6/26 at 11:00 p.m. Security officers observed several suspects enter the residence. Four suspects were arrested.

• A commercial burglary occurred at The Swimming Tennis Association located at 10116 Green Forest Drive in Silver Spring between Friday, 6/26 at 1:00 a.m. and Sunday, 6/27 at 12:00 p.m. Forced entry was made and property was taken.

• Between Monday, 6/22 and Thursday, 6/25, eighteen thefts from vehicles occurred in in the beat. Most of these incidents occurred during overnight hours. The suspect broke or pried windows in 11 of the incidents. GPS systems, cell phones, cash, CD’s and tapes were the items of choice in several of the incidents. Streets affected included:
  • Burnt Ember Drive
  • Cresthaven Drive
  • Naglee Road
  • Moffet Road
  • Edgewater Parkway
  • Sweetbriar Parkway
  • Pagebrook Road
  • Overlook Drive


I1 Beat:

• An armed robbery occurred at the Sears located in the 11200 block of New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring on Wednesday, 6/24 at 1:47 p.m. The suspect displayed a knife to an employee who was attempting to keep him from shoplifting. The suspect and an accomplice fled the store on foot.
Suspects: (2) H/M’s 5’10” to 6” one wore a yellow bandana, one was armed with a knife

• A strong-arm robbery occurred at Randolph Road and Hammonton Road in Silver Spring on Saturday, 6/27 at 12:54 a.m. The suspect approached the victim from behind and forcibly snatched her purse. The suspect fled on foot.
Suspect: Unknown race male

• An attempted armed robbery/assault occurred in the 11500 block of February Circle in Silver Spring on Sunday, 6/28 at 1:00 a.m. The suspects approached the victim and demanded cash. One suspect struck the victim in the head with a stick and the other assaulted the victim. The victim was
able to flee the scene. Nothing was taken.
Suspects: (2) B/M’s 17-20, 5’8” to 5’10” 150 lbs., white shirts blue jeans One subject wore a black and white bandana, armed with a stick.

• A residential burglary occurred in the 11800 block of Old Columbia Pike in Silver Spring on Tuesday, 6/23 between 6:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Forced entry was made and property was taken.


I2 Beat:

• A residential burglary occurred in the 15000 block of McKnew Road in Burtonsville on Monday, 6/22 between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Forced entry was made and property was taken.

• A residential burglary occurred in the 4200 block of Thistlewood Terrace in Burtonsville on Monday, 6/22 between 5:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Forced entry was made and unknown what property was taken.

• A residential burglary occurred in the 3400 block of Dulaney Place in Burtonsville on Monday, 6/22 at 3:50 a.m. Forced entry was made and property was taken.
Suspect: B/M 30-35 years, 5’10” to 6” 160-180 lbs., wearing dark clothing

• A residential burglary occurred in the 3200 block of Tapestry Circle in Burtonsville on Tuesday, 6/23 at 8:35 p.m. Forced entry was made and property was taken.
Suspect: U/M Black top, black shorts

• A residential burglary occurred in the unit block of Sheffield Manor Court in Silver Spring on Wednesday, 6/24 between 4:15 p.m. and 11:24 p.m. Forced entry was made and property was taken.

• A residential burglary occurred in the 3300 block of Parkford Manor Terrace in Silver Spring on Friday, 6/26 between 8:40 a.m. and 1:50 p.m. Forced entry was made and property was taken.

• A residential burglary occurred in the 3400 block of Gateshead Manor Way in Silver Spring on Friday, 6/26 between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Forced entry was made and property was taken.

• A residential burglary occurred in the 13900 block of Carthage Circle in Burtonsville on Saturday, 6/27 between 7:46 p.m. and 8:40 p.m. Forced entry was made and it is unknown what property was taken.

• A residential burglary occurred in the 13400 block of Guilford Run Lane in Silver Spring on Monday, 6/29 between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Forced entry was made and property was taken.
