Police Investigate Attempted
Kidnapping and Possible Sexual Assault
Detectives from the 3rd District Investigative Section are investigating an attempted kidnapping and a possible sexual assault that occurred recently in the area of University Boulevard West and Kerwin Road in Silver Spring.
On Thursday, June 18, 2009, at 10:45 p.m., a 3rd District officer responded to a call for an attempted kidnapping and a possible sexual assault that had occurred the previous evening. The preliminary investigation revealed that on Wednesday, June 17, at approximately 7:45 p.m., the 26-year-old female victim got off the bus at University Boulevard West and Dennis Avenue. When the victim began walking toward her home, she observed a group of Hispanic males sitting in front of a house along University Boulevard West. Two of the men called out to her in Spanish and started to follow her. When they approached Kerwin Road, one of the men grabbed her from behind, while the other man grabbed her legs. They picked her up and began carrying her down Kerwin Road. As the victim was attempting to free herself, one of the men was trying to remove her belt. An unidentified motorist stopped to help the victim and the suspects fled. The victim was not injured during the incident.
One of the suspects is described as a Hispanic male, 40 years old, 5’5” to 5’6” tall and weighing 160 to 170 pounds. He has one or two gold teeth and black hair cut above his shoulders. He was wearing blue jeans, a white t-shirt, and tan work boots.
The second suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 40 years old, and 5’5” to 5’6” tall and weighing 160 to 170 pounds. He has shaggy black hair, and was wearing light blue cut-off blue jean shorts, a white long-sleeve shirt, and black shoes.
