Fatal Collision in Burtonsville

The Montgomery County Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision that occurred this evening in Burtonsville.

At approximately 6:18 p.m., 3rd District officers and Fire Rescue personnel responded to the intersection of Sandy Spring Road and Dino Drive for the report of a serious personnel injury collision.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a gold Chevy Suburban was traveling eastbound on Sandy Spring Road, when for unknowns reasons the driver lost control of the vehicle. The Suburban rolled onto its roof and then struck a Porsha near the intersection of Dino Drive. The driver of the Suburban was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the Porsha has been flown to an area hospital in serious condition. Detectives have not made any next-of-kin notification and the names of the drivers will not be released this evening.
