Secondary Learning Centers and Planning for Middle School for Students
Important information about Secondary Learning Centers and planning for Middle School for students with Learning Disabilities for 5th grade & middle school parents On Tuesday, February 13, 2007 the Montgomery County Board of Education voted to phase out the Secondary Learning Centers (middle school & high school).
This means no 5th graders will be admitted to a Learning Center in the fall. They will attend their home school.
In order to make sure that the parents of children affected by this change will be provided the information they need to help their children succeed in a General Education classroom, the MPCS Special Education Advisory Committee will meet on
Thursday, February 22nd, 2007, at 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. in the Carver Building, 850 Hungerford Drive, Rockville, Md. in room 223. (All interested parents are welcome)

- 7:20 - Gwendolyn Mason, Director, Department of Special Education Services will present the Implementation Plan
- 8:15 - Meet the staff responsible for monitoring the students at each middle school
- 8:20 - Review/discuss the profiles of the current Grade 5 Learning Center students and the resources required to meet the needs of these students.
