This Week at Connected Communities - March 22, 2009

Weekly Crime Summaries for all six police districts, Rockville City, and Takoma Park, were published March 16th through 19th. Summaries are published in Local Crime Reports.

The Montgomery County Police released the end-of-year crime statistics for the last half of 2008. The report shows an overall increase in total crime compared with the same period in 2007.

Montgomery County Fire & Rescue reports a series of serious fires in March. Working smoke detectors prevented serious injury or loss of life in all these incidents.

Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett released a special budget edition of his newsletter Isiah Leggett Reports. The report details the financial problems facing the county in Fiscal Year 2010.

Two new fixed pole speed cameras went into operation this week in Takoma Park The new cameras are shown with white markers on the Montgomery County Fixed Speed Cameras Map.
