Montgomery County Friends of the Library Awards Annual Scholarships

Friends of the Library, Montgomery County (FOLMC) has announced that two Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL) employees have been selected to receive this year’s Moreland-Griffen scholarship in recognition of their outstanding academic achievement and professional contributions to MCPL.

FOLMC grants the annual scholarship, which is given in honor of two former MCPL directors, George B. Moreland and Agnes Griffen, as part of their mission to promote librarianship as a career.

Susan Cohen, who has been a librarian with MPCL for 24 years, works with the disability resource center housed in Rockville Library. She coordinates library services to the deaf and hard-of-hearing community and manages the children’s resource collection. Cohen earned a B.S. degree in social work from Rochester Institute of Technology and a Master’s degree in deaf education from McDaniel College.
