Montgomery County’s Department of General Services (DGS) today reached a settlement with Tito Contractors, Inc. in District Court to provide $48,720.55 in back wages to its employees. As part of the abatement order agreement, Tito Contractors also acknowledged it failed to submit required records to the County and it promised to provide proper wage benefits to employees in the future.
“Montgomery County will not tolerate unfair labor practices that exploit our workers,” said Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett. “We have taken swift and decisive action to protect vulnerable employees who deserve, under the law, to be paid a living wage.”
Montgomery County initiated an investigation of Tito’s contract for Time and Materials Carpentry Services in October 2007.
