Single-Vehicle Fatal in Wheaton Detectives Seek Help to Identify Victim Updated Information Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a single-vehicle fatal collision that occurred at approximately 4:00 a.m. today in Wheaton. The crash resulted in a fire that has made identification of the driver impossible. Detectives seek help from the community to determine the identity of the victim of this fatal collision. The preliminary investigation revealed that a Honda Accord believed to be a 1986 model and possibly light greenish blue in color with possible temporary registration, was traveling northbound on Georgia Avenue. For unknown reasons the driver lost control of the car at Hewitt Avenue. The car crossed two lanes, and struck three utility poles located on the northeast corner of Georgia Avenue and Hewitt Avenue. After the impact, the car became consumed by fire. The victim is described as a male of unknown race. He was wearing Levi-brand blue jeans in a 34 – 32 size and a blue and white striped jacket with a fleece lining. He was also wearing a ring on his left thumb of an unknown type of metal set with three stones. CRU detectives would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the crash or anyone who knows of an unaccounted for man who is known to drive or own a Honda Accord. This weekend calls should be placed to the police non-emergency number at 301-279-8000. On Monday after 7:00 a.m., calls can be made to the CRU office at 301-840-2435.
