Armed Bank Robbery in Gaithersburg
Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division - Robbery Section and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are investigating a bank robbery that occurred Friday, November 7, 2008, in Gaithersburg.
On November 7, 2008, at approximately 5:50 p.m., Montgomery County Police 6th District officers responded to the report of a bank robbery that had just occurred at the Sovereign Bank located at 481 N. Frederick Avenue in Gaithersburg.
The preliminary investigation revealed that two male suspects, one armed with a handgun, entered the bank, and demanded cash. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspects fled on foot, south into a parking lot. No one was injured.
The suspects are described as black males. One is described as 5’10” to 6’00” tall, 200 pounds, wearing a black mask and a blue sweatshirt. The second suspect is described as 5’10”, unknown weight, wearing a black puffy ¾-length winter coat, gloves, and dark pants.
