County Executive Isiah Leggett today announced that he is directing County government departments to expand the number of employees who work four-day, ten-hour schedules within the normal 40 hour, five-day work week in order to save energy, protect the environment, and mitigate traffic congestion.
“As a major employer in the County, we have an important obligation to set our own bar for excellence in this area very high” said Leggett, while emphasizing that the expansion will be done consistent with his emphasis on continuous improvement in customer service.
According to the County’s Office of Human Resources, 2,256 out of 10,141 County employees already participate in some form of an Alternative Work Schedule.
