Police Arrest Student with Knife at Einstein High School

Montgomery County Police have been investigating an incident that occurred on Monday, June 2, at Einstein High School involving a student who brought a knife to school and got into a physical altercation. On June 2 at approximately 11:32 a.m., the Educational Facilities Officer assigned to Einstein High School, located at 11135 Newport Mill Road in Kensington, was present when a physical altercation began during the school’s lunch period.

Through the course of the investigation it was determined that a sixteen-year-old boy had brought a knife to school and displayed it during a fight within the school that occurred during the lunch period. This fight took place outside of classrooms on the first floor of the school. The fight was immediately disrupted by the EFO and the school security officers. No injuries occurred. The motive for the fight is still under investigation. The student armed with the knife ran before he could be taken into custody.

At approximately 11:45 a.m. school administrators made the decision to initiate a Code Blue, which requires all students to be accounted for and under supervision, while officers searched for the armed student. It was believed that the student had left the school, but the Code Blue was put in place until it was confirmed that he was not on school property. The student was located at his home in Rockville by Montgomery County Police officers at approximately 12:30 p.m., and the Code Blue status was lifted at that time.

The student, identified as Kirkland Hall, was arrested and charged as an adult for first- degree assault, possession of a weapon on school property, and carrying a concealed weapon. Hall is currently being held at the Central Processing Unit in Rockville on $50,000 bond.
