Teacher Charged after Inappropriate Sexual Contact with Student
Detectives from the Family Crimes Division have charged a teacher after investigating the report of inappropriate sexual contact between the female teacher and a 16-year-old male resident student at the Regional Institute for Children and Adolescents (RICA).
On Monday, May 19, 2008, Child Protective Services was contacted by RICA to report abuse that occurred earlier that day. Child Protective Services then contacted Montgomery County Police and a duel investigation was initiated.
The investigation revealed that 26-year-old teacher Lindsey H. Froehlich, from the 13100 block of Shadyside Lane in Germantown, had established a personal relationship between herself and the student that escalated into inappropriate touching initiated by the teacher. The incidents occurred during school hours and on RICA school property located at 15000 Broschart Road in Rockville.
Froehlich has been a teacher with Montgomery County Public Schools since August of 2005. Anyone who has information about any other inappropriate sexual contact involving Lindsey Froehlich should contact Family Crimes Child Abuse Detective Wiltshire at 240-773-5400.
Froehlich has been charged with fourth-degree sexual offense and sexual abuse of a minor. She is currently being held at the Montgomery County Detention Center on $250,000.00 bond. She was placed on administrative leave by the school system.
