Women’s History Month Program to Feature Local Authors from Bethesda’s St

In celebration of Women’s History Month, Friends of the Library, Montgomery County (FOLMC) and Montgomery County Business and Professional Women (MCBPW) will host a program on Tuesday, March 4, at 7 p.m., at the Rockville Library entitled “The Pen is Mightier Than the Broom,” featuring authors of the book of the same name.

Members of the Stromboli Streghe, a group of women writers who first came together through the Bethesda Writer’s Center, will read from their book -- a collection of personal essays, fiction and poetry. The selections cover a range of emotions and experiences – from happy childhood memories to more sorrowful, trouble-filled times.

In creating the pieces in the book over more than a decade, the 11 contributors looked at themselves in the many roles they fulfill – including daughters, mothers, sisters, wives, lovers, businesswomen, caretakers, and writers. Writings from “The Pen is…” have appea ...more
