The featured guest will be actor Jim Lucas. He will present an excerpt from Dr. King’s final speech I’ve Been to the Mountaintop.
The public is encouraged to attend the event, which is made possible by the Mayor and Council of Rockville and the Rockville Human Rights Commission.
“This year’s annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Celebration will be better than ever,” said Theo Anderson, chair of Rockville Human Rights Commission. “The Rockville Human Rights Commission is proud and honored to be allowed to continue to play the lead role in keeping Dr. King’s goals, ideas, philosophy and purpose at the forefront of the minds of the Rockville citizens. It helps for us to remember that we’ve come a long way, but still have a long way to go to ensure that civil rights and equality are realized by all citizens in the country.”
