Man Missing from Chevy Chase

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police 2nd District are asking the public’s help to locate a man who was reported missing yesterday after he failed to arrive home after having dinner with a friend.

Thomas Nicholas Battista, age 78, from the 3600 block of Littledale Road in Kensington, was seen last night at approximately 8:40, in the 8100 block of Connecticut Avenue in Chevy Chase. After having dinner with a friend he promised to call when he got home. When no phone call was received, a family member confirmed that he had not arrived home. Mr. Battista was driving a gold 2004 Toyota Avalon with D.C. tag BW3769. Mr. Battista suffers from Alzheimer’s disease.

Mr. Battista was seen today at approximately 1:30 p.m., at a gas station on Landover Road in Landover, Maryland asking for directions to Route 50E to get to Washington, D.C. It is believed that he is lost.

He is described as a white male, 5’6” tall, weighing 170 pounds. He has blue eyes and a bald head.

Anyone with information about Mr. Battista is asked to call the 2nd District Investigative Section at 301-657-0112, or the police non-emergency number at 301-279-8000.

Man Missing from Chevy Chase was Found

The man who was reported missing October 18, after he failed to arrive home after having dinner with a friend, called a family member on Friday evening, October 20.

Thomas Nicholas Battista, age 78, from the 3600 block of LIttledale Road in Kensington, contacted a family member by phone on Friday evening to say that he didn’t know how to get back home. That family member was able to find Mr. Battista and return him to his residence.

Montgomery County Police and the family of Thomas Battista would like to thank the media for their assistance in publicizing this missing person case.
