Police Seek the Public’s Help to Identify the Victim
of a Critical Pedestrian Collision in Wheaton


Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a critical pedestrian collision that occurred yesterday evening at approximately 6:36 p.m. in Wheaton.

The preliminary investigation indicates that an unidentified Hispanic male was crossing Connecticut Avenue just north of Aspen Hill Road in the area of the Home Depot when he was struck by a gold Toyota Corolla traveling northbound on Connecticut Avenue. The driver of the Toyota was not injured in the collision, and remained on the scene after the accident.

The victim suffered life-threatening injuries in the collision and was transported to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition. The victim is described as a Hispanic male, 20-30 years old, 5’4” to 5’5”, with a thin build and several days’ growth of facial hair. He was wearing a black t-shirt with the word “Panama” and a large design on the back, blue jeans, a multicolor wool long sleeve sweater with blue and red coloring in it, and a baby blue baseball cap.

The collision is still under investigation. Anyone who may know the identity of the victim is asked to immediately call
(301) 279-8000. Anyone who may have witnessed this collision is asked to call the Collision Reconstruction Unit
at (301) 840-2435.

Victim of a Critical Pedestrian Collision in Wheaton Has Been Identified

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Collision Reconstruction Unit are continuing to investigate the critical pedestrian collision that occurred on Friday, September 28, at approximately 6:36 p.m. in Wheaton.

The male victim was not carrying identification when the collision occurred, and detectives have now confirmed his identity.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the 25-year-old man with an unknown address was crossing Connecticut Avenue just north of Aspen Hill Road in the area of the Home Depot when he was struck by a gold Toyota Corolla driven by an 87-year-old woman from Wheaton. The Toyota was traveling northbound on Connecticut Avenue. The driver of the Toyota was not injured in the collision, and remained on the scene after the collision.

The victim suffered life-threatening injuries in the collision and was transported to a local hospital where he continues to receive treatment.

The collision remains under investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed this collision is asked to call the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 301-840-2435.

Police Continue to Investigate Pedestrian Collision

Montgomery County Police are investigating a Friday night collision involving a man who was struck by a car in Aspen Hill.

Police said the collision occurred at approximately 6:36 p.m.

A preliminary investigation indicates that an unidentified man was crossing Connecticut Avenue just north of Aspen Hill Road when he was struck by a gold Toyota Corolla traveling northbound on Connecticut Avenue.

The driver of the Toyota was not injured, and remained on the scene after the collision, police said.

The victim suffered life-threatening injuries in the collision and was transported to a local hospital, where he remained in critical condition as of press time Tuesday, police said.

Lucille Baur, a county police spokeswoman, said Tuesday that police investigators were still working to identify the victim.

Police said the victim is described as a Hispanic man, 20 to 30 years old, 5 feet 4 inches tall to 5 feet 5 inches tall, with a thin build and several days’ growth of facial hair. He was wearing a black T-shirt with the word ‘‘Panama” and a large design on the back, blue jeans, a multicolored wool long-sleeve sweater with blue and red in it and a light blue baseball cap.

Baur said she did not know if the man was in a crosswalk when he was struck.

Critical Pedestrian Collision Turned Fatal

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Collision Reconstruction Unit are continuing to investigate the now fatal pedestrian collision that occurred on Friday, September 28, at approximately 6:36 p.m. in Wheaton.

The victim, Bertilio Miranda Valle (also known as Bertilio Flores), age 25, of an unknown fixed address, suffered life-threatening injuries in the collision and was transported to a local hospital. It was learned that he succumbed to those injuries yesterday.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was crossing Connecticut Avenue just north of Aspen Hill Road in the area of the Home Depot when he was struck by a gold Toyota Corolla driven by an 87-year-old woman from Wheaton. The Toyota was traveling northbound on Connecticut Avenue. The driver of the Toyota was not injured in the collision, and remained at the scene after the collision.
