County Launches Website to Help Older Adults Find Physical Activity Programs; Online

Montgomery County has teamed up with the National Council on the Aging to create an online resource guide listing more than 70 local physical activity programs. The website, found at www.activeoptions.org, is searchable by zip code and type of activity.

“There is overwhelming evidence that the key to successful aging is to stay physically active,” said Shawn Brennan, senior health promoter for Aging and Disability Services, part of the County’s Department of Health and Human Services. “We want to make it easy to find out where physical activity programs are offered.” By quickly searching the website www.activeoptions.org, older adults, family members and health professionals can find physical activity programs close to home.
