Rockville City Police Department Receives Accreditation

The Rockville City Police Department recently received its fifth consecutive accreditation from the Commission of Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies.

‘‘I think the biggest part of this is we’re meeting national standards of professional police competency and we’ve been doing it for five straight accreditations and reaccreditations,” Chief Terrance N. Treschuk said. ‘‘That shows we’re doing it on a continual basis.”

The review is conducted every three years. This time, 850 out of 16,000 agencies received the honor.

The commission reviews standards in areas ranging from use-of-force policies to fiscal management. Rockville met all 274 mandatory standards and nearly 95 percent of the optional standards.
